We provide online lessons (via Skype or FaceTime) across the UK for CIE Pre-U French, German and Spanish - Principal Course (PC) and Short Course (SC). Our online Pre-U lessons (via Skype or FaceTime) focus on developing the four core language skills examined - reading, writing, listening and speaking – as well as exploring and developing topic areas, cultural topics, prepared topics and set texts. Our online lessons emphasise tailored presentation, targeted practice and personalised feedback, using a bank of online resources, questions and papers, as well as past and specimen papers, to enhance fluency and accuracy, develop vocabulary and grammatical control, build confidence and provide enjoyment and stimulation. We provide an informal online assessment for each tutee at the outset. This provides focus and clarity for the preparation process, allowing us to target accurately where each tutee needs particular support. Working through the relevant Pre-U specification (PC or SC), our online lessons are also interactive and fun, developing our tutees’ language skills, time management skills, and their ability to respond effectively to the variety of question types found in Pre-U French, German and Spanish examinations. Our online Pre-U French, German and Spanish lessons help to develop our tutees': Spoken French, German or Spanish as a means of advanced communication (including presentations and discussion of articles, topic areas and prepared topics); Understanding of spoken French, German or Spanish in a variety of contexts and genres (including formal interviews, informal dialogue, extracts from lectures and seminars and academic reports); Ability to write French, German or Spanish confidently and accurately, demonstrating fluency and structure, for a variety of purposes (including essays on topic areas, cultural topics and set texts, précis, dictations, cloze tests, and translations); Understanding of the different types of written French, German or Spanish (including newspaper articles, academic journals, extracts from novels, poems, and plays, critical guides and reports); Understanding and application of a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures in French, German or Spanish (including tenses, moods, voices, cases, parts of speech and lexical fields); Knowledge and understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries and communities where French, German or Spanish is spoken. Other Information ONLINE PRE-U TUTOR REGISTRATION We follow a highly-selective framework for registering our online Pre-U tutors. We undertake a number of checks on all applicants before they can register with us. Around 50% of our applicants are turned away, as they don’t reach our stringent requirements; this ensures that our Pre-U tutees will always receive an experienced, highly qualified Pre-U tutor, with a proven track record, who is passionate about tutoring Pre-U French, German or Spanish online. All online Pre-U tutors must have DBS Enhanced Disclosure before they are fully registered. ONLINE PRE-U TUTORING ARRANGEMENTS We tutor online (via Skype or FaceTime) Monday through to Saturday (inclusive), between 8.00am and 9.00pm. Our online Pre-U tutors are flexible and adaptable and they plan strategically to offer each Pre-U tutee multiple avenues through which they can access, understand, and apply what they learn.
